The Baltic Art Centre is an imposing and eyecatching structure dominating the local landscape. It is one of Europe's largest arts centres and has been described as the art factory of the north, combining displays with workshops and studios. Externally, Crittall Windows has been instrumental in ensuring the character restoration of the building.

Crittall's Corporate 2000 profiles were specified on the north and south elevations up to roof level. Designed as small panes, these blended well with the original tradition of the architecture whilst offering dual benefits of strength and aesthetic appeal. Corporate 2000 profiles accommodated larger sizes of glazing in the staircase tower on the north-west elevation which is over 24 metres high. This matched and complemented the curtain walling element and the visible scenic lift shafts on the other elevation. All Corporate 2000 profiles were polyester powder coated in non-standard RAL 7016 colour.
