Pitlochry Festival Theatre with its stunning panoramic views across the river Tummel in Scotland, is a landmark building within the local community. The theatre has recently undergone an upgrading programme involving the replacement of all the original 1951 windows with new steel units from Crittall Windows.
Project architects, Law & Dunbar-Nasmith of Edinburgh, specified double glazed steel units, replacing the original fenestration of single glazed aluminium profiles due to the decision to extend the theatrical season from just summer months to all year around.
Crittall W20 steel framed units were installed, each consisting of four panes of double glazing, two fixed lights to either side and two folder types. The W20 offer extremely narrow sightlines, eliminating unsightly mullions or transoms. Double glazing of up to 14mm in thickness can be accommodated, ensuring excellent thermal insulation.
