The Old Edwards Inn is a 30 room luxury destination spa resort located in the quaint village of Highlands, NC, which blends Southern hospitality with 21st Century sensibilities for the discerning traveller.
The landmark inn first opened as the Hotel Edwards in 1935 and has recently undergone an extreme makeover. The conversion was a combination of renovation and new construction. The owner, whose goal was to create a world-class resort, brought in some of the topdesigners from Atlanta, including Summerour & Associates.
One of the challenges of a project of this nature is maintaining
the integrity of the design while incorporating style and
convenience. Summerour chose Crittall's Corporate W20 windows with
true divided lights. The clean design lent itself beautifully to
the classic style of the buildings, while allowing for full
picture-window walls of glass, larger lights for maximum daylight,
and a composite arrangement of fixed and operable units. The effect
was indeed world-class, both inside and out.
