Crittall The Best for New York
12 January 2009

Crittall Windows has been the preferred supplier for the replacement of windows in a historic New York landmark for over a decade.
Working in partnership with Industrial Windows Corporation, Crittall is responsible for supplying replacement steel framed windows for numerous apartments at 300 CPW in the heart of Manhattan, more affectionately known as El Dorado.
Located in the Upper Westside Historic District, the building was designated as an individual landmark by the New York Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1985 which meant that any repair work to the structure had to follow stringent guidelines, in particular the fact that all windows visible from the street had to be like-for-like, original steel divided light casement windows. Crittall's suitability to supply the replacement windows was unquestionable - the company supplied its Fenestra Joint for the original fenestration when the building was built in 1931, so it was a natural choice to re-hire the world's most prolific and best-known supplier of steel windows for the replacement task.
Crittall is a familiar name in America since 1910, having been involved with some of the most prestigious US buildings, including Yale and Princeton and the UK's partnership with Industrial Windows has so far proved exemplary. Industrial Windows has installed windows and doors to residential, commercial, healthcare and educational establishments for many years throughout the US, and 300 CPW is benefiting from the company's comprehensive project management approach which sees the company surveying, removing old frames and installing the new ones, courtesy of Crittall.
Crittall Homelight windows were specified for the task to provide easy to operate, minimal maintenance frames in a classic style to emulate the originals. The specification was for high performance profiles with narrow sightlines, elegant visual appeal with Fenestra joints incorporated. The Homelight range met all the criteria and Crittall is supplying the divided light casement windows in a polyester powder coated Umber Grey finish, manufactured in hot rolled steel sections with welded corners.
"This is a high profile, ongoing project and we are delighted to be working with Industrial Windows Corporation, one of America's leading names," comments John Pyatt of Crittall. "We were there for the original construction of the building and nearly 80 years later, we are still there for the replacement of the windows, which is testament to the longevity of our product range and the reputation of our company which is now in its 160th year."
