Crittall History To Be Featured In Art Trail
14 January 2009
Indutrial history to be explored in Braintree's first art trail
A celebration of visual arts activity in and around the Braintree District, "Windows" will provide a unique opportunity to see the range of artwork being carried out in the area.
Over 30 venues will be showcasing the work of local artists who have responded to the broad theme of "Windows". This theme has been chosen to reflect the important local heritage of the Crittall Window Company, as well as the fact that much of the work will be exhibited in shop windows.
Supported by Crittall, Essex County Council and Braintree District Council, the trail will also take in the vast range of architectural history in the towns windows and new site specific artwork created in the district's museums sponsored by Crittall.
"Windows" will be a guided opportunity to stroll around Braintree and see where Francis Crittall founded the company back in 1849, visit exhibitions, galleries, open studios and workplaces and try your hand at the workshops on offer.
The trail takes place from Saturday 11th July to Sunday 26th July 2009 and is organised by Braintree District Arts (registered charity no 286320) and curated by Elaine Tribley.
