Braintree Art Trail Launches Saturday 11 July
07 July 2009
"Windows" the Braintree & District Art Trail starts this Saturday 11th July through to 26th July 2009
A celebration of visual arts activity in and around the
Braintree District, "Windows" is a unique opportunity to see the
range of artwork being carried out in the area. Over 30 venues are
showcasing the work of local artists who have responded to the
broad theme of "Windows", chosen to reflect the important local
heritage of the Crittall Window Company, and the exhibiting windows
along the trail.
Organised by Braintree District Arts and supported by Essex County
Council, Crittall WIndows and Braintree District Council, the trail
also highlights the wide range of architectural history illustrated
by the windows in the town, and new site-specific artwork displayed
in the District Museum sponsored by Crittalls. "Windows" is a
guided opportunity to stroll around Braintree and see where Francis
Crittall founded the company back in 1849, visit exhibitions,
galleries, open studios and workplaces, and try your hand at the
workshops on offer.
