Crittall Fendor have recently been a part of the restoration efforts on Waverley Gate in Edinburgh. Waverley Gate is a prestigious office complex occupying the former General Post Office building on Waterloo Place and North Bridge in the heart of Edinburgh. The project comprised the major refurbishment of the original building including the major demolish work to create a shell formed by the external 18th century stone façade.
Crittall Fendor’s Fireline products were used due to their slim 50mm sightlines, combined with inherent strength from the inner mild steel profiles. The internal glass ‘box’ was created with CFL FireLine fire resistant façade glazing, running for 3 stories behind the stone façade.
The renovations created a modern open-plan interior across eight floors, above with roof gardens on three level. . It has a bright central atrium, which maximises natural light into the office accommodation, complemented and increased by the specialist fenestration from Crittall Fendor.
The fire resistant facade is supported from Vierendeel beams running around at each floor level and supported off the main steel beams. CFL manufactured and installed all the secondary steel support as part of the package.
