Congratulations to the winners of the Crittall House of the Year Special Award for their beautiful 1920s property renovation with Crittall products throughout.

Seeking a solution to lighten a dark hallway which felt very enclosed with solid wood doors, the owners knew they needed a glass door solution and started narrowing down their choices with the conclusion that Crittall doors were a lot more solid and had more weight to them, because there is a lot more steel.

From the owners point of view and the provenance of the house and era, they wanted an original, authentic product to put something back.

The owners stated that one issue they had was because they were putting the doors into the hallway, they needed fire doors and one of the things that ticked the box for them was the Fire Rating certificate which the building inspectors were happy with.

Following a visit to Crittall Specialist Partner, Yes Glazing Solutions’ showroom, they saw the product in situ, chose their hardware and are very pleased.  ‘The doors have a weight to them and the sound proofing really works’ they said.  They look great and match in with some of the furniture which they had made to designed to complement, also in black powder coating.

The owners commented ‘when we moved in, we didn’t have any doors and we got quite used to the open plan space.  We were worried about losing light and space but the doors delivered quite the opposite effect.  The light is still there with the rooms sectioned off and we really noticed the space and light: the sound proofing is fantastic’.

The first thing our visitors comment on is how lovely it looks.  They know immediately they are Crittall.  The doors definitely influenced our choice of interior design’.  See case study here.
