Hardware
Select handles, pulls and sliding components to suit the project. Options include lever handles for hinged doors and purpose-made hardware for Innervision® sliding doors, with finish choices to match your colour scheme. Security hardware and multipoint locking are available on external doors.
Glazing & Configuration
Crittall steel doors can be specified anywhere from fully solid to fully glazed, and everything in between. Solid steel doors suit security-led or privacy areas, while glazed steel doors and full glass steel door configurations bring in maximum light, ideal for room dividers, garden doors and open-plan spaces. Glazing bars can be arranged to match our classic steel window grid or kept minimal for a cleaner look. Every configuration is available as an insulated steel entry door where thermal performance matters, with the same hot-dip galvanised and Duralife® powder-coated frame throughout, so however much glass you choose, the build quality doesn't change.

We understand you may have queries about our products and services. We’ve answered some of the most common questions below.
Yes, our high-quality steel doors feature strong steel frames and multi point locking mechanisms to offer excellent security.
No, our steel doors are relatively low maintenance. The powder-coated steel frames are resistant to rust and require just periodic cleaning with a damp cloth.
Designed with performance in mind, our steel doors offer excellent thermal performance. They utilise double-glazed or even triple-glazed insulated glass units, and thermally broken steel profiles which work to minimise heat transfer.
Yes. You can find the perfect fit for your project by selecting from a range of colours, hardware, glazing, and accessory options.
Crittall doors can offer very good levels of sound reduction when specified correctly. The steel frame itself is inherently robust, and when combined with appropriate glazing for example, acoustic or laminated glass units and quality perimeter seals, a Crittall door can significantly help to reduce noise transmission between spaces or from outside. As with any door system, overall sound performance will also depend on the surrounding construction and installation, but with the right glass and detailing, Crittall doors are well suited to projects where acoustic comfort is an important consideration.
The style and customisation options you choose will determine the price of your new steel door. Get in touch today for a free quote.
While steel-framed glazing has become very popular in recent years, Crittall has been setting the standard for over a century. The distinctive slim sightlines, refined proportions and solid steel construction have been used in landmark buildings and design-led homes for generations.
Today, those same qualities feel as current in a contemporary extension or open-plan interior as they do in a period property. Choosing Crittall means investing in a piece of enduring design – a permanent architectural feature that sits comfortably beyond fashions and fads.
Yes. Crittall doors are perfectly suited to residential properties, from period homes to contemporary new builds. Their slim steel frames maximise natural light and create a strong architectural feature, whether used as external garden or terrace doors, or as internal screens and room dividers.
Every door is made to measure, with modern glazing, advanced thermal performance and robust security hardware, so you can enjoy the classic Crittall aesthetic with the comfort and performance expected of a modern home.
Steel is up to three times stronger than aluminium, so a steel door frame can be built slimmer for the same strength, giving more glass and a sharper sightline. Aluminium doors need a bulkier frame to match that strength, and are often marketed with a similar look to steel without the same solid construction.
A well-specified Crittall steel door can last 60 years or more. Hot-dip galvanisation, factory finishing and fully welded construction protect the frame from corrosion and keep it structurally sound for decades with minimal upkeep.
Yes. Our Innervision FR range offers fire-rated steel door options for projects where certified fire performance is required, without losing the slim steel sightlines the rest of our range is known for.
Yes. As the original steel window and door manufacturer, Crittall designs doors and windows to work as one system, so frames, finishes and glazing bar patterns can be matched across a whole project.
Yes. Crittall steel doors are widely specified on listed and heritage projects, where their slim, authentic steel profiles meet conservation requirements that many modern alternatives can't match.

Contact UsEvery Crittall door starts with a solid steel frame, not a lightweight substitute dressed up to look like one. The frame is hot-rolled carbon steel, fully welded at the corners rather than mechanically fixed, and hot-dip galvanised for long-term protection, giving a door frame that holds its shape and its security rating for decades rather than years. It’s the same principle behind our windows, carried through to every door in the range: a true steel-framed door, built to be structural in its own right, not just decorative.
Discuss you door needsSteel doors get specified in two very different situations, and the framing approach is different for each. On a new build, the door frame is designed into the opening from the outset, so the whole structure, wall, lintel and frame, works as one. On a renovation or replacement project, we’re fitting a new steel-framed door into an existing opening, often one originally built for a very different kind of door. Our team works from site measurements and structural drawings either way, so the frame that arrives is the frame that fits, first time.
Talk to us about your projectAn exterior steel door has to do more than an internal one. The frame needs to shed water, resist wind loading, and keep its seal tight winter after winter, all without losing the slim sightlines steel is known for. Our exterior door frames use advanced weatherseals and drainage designed for wind-driven rain, built for UK weather rather than adapted from a fair-weather import. Whether it’s a single front door or a full glazed entrance, the frame is doing the structural work so the door keeps performing long after installation.
View our external door rangeIf you want to know exactly what’s inside a Crittall door frame, the section drawing shows it. It’s the same level of technical detail architects and specifiers already rely on for our steel windows, just applied to the doors: profile depth, glazing rebate, weld points and fixing detail, all in one drawing. Useful for specification, useful for site teams, and honestly just satisfying if you want to understand why a steel frame lasts as long as it does.
See the full technical drawingEvery Crittall steel door is custom made to the opening, not selected from a fixed size range. As a guide, our Corporate W20 system covers single doors up to 1218mm wide by 2600mm high, and double door sets, a steel double door frame housing two leaves, up to 2438mm wide by 2600mm high, comfortably covering everything from a single front door to a wide double metal door set for a commercial or garden opening. Larger industrial and commercial requirements, including double glass doors for exterior or commercial use, can be specified beyond these standard ranges, sliding, hinged or bi-fold, single or double leaf. Whatever the size, double metal doors and frames are built with the same fully welded, hot-dip galvanised construction as every other Crittall door.
Talk to us about your openingCrittall steel doors work across four very different environments, and each has its own demands. For commercial and office spaces, steel doors bring genuine security and a slim, glazed profile that suits reception areas and glazed partitions, doors for offices and commercial office doors with glass are among our most specified configurations. For industrial and workshop settings, the same hot-rolled steel construction handles heavier daily use, metal workshop doors, factory doors and shop doors are built to the same standard as our residential range, just sized and specified for the job. For homes, steel doors for homes range from a single bedroom door to large steel doors for open-plan spaces, all made to measure. And where finish matters most, our black steel doors deliver the sharp, minimal look Crittall is known for, in any room or setting. Browse the full range below.
